The ING New York City Marathon with over 45,000 competitors is one of the largest in the world. It takes place on Sunday November 6th and I will be running the 26 mile circuit through 5 boroughs of New York City to raise money for a really deserving charity; The Nema Foundation, Mozambique.

The Nema Foundation Uses a holistic and participatory approach to enable communities to sustainably free themselves from poverty whilst protecting their invaluable environmental resources. The foundation works to ensure projects overlap and re-enforce each other creating stronger foundations for continued development. Villages worked with are partners, not just beneficiaries; projects are designed and implemented through a network of village leaders and volunteers and only start once the community is 100% committed.

Nema works in 6 main areas; health, water, education, enterprise, agriculture and conservation and have so far been hugely successful with their projects. As well as trying to raise as much money as possible I am also keen to raise awareness of the work that is going on in Mozambique.
