UNICEF reported that almost half of Angola’s children are out of school, 45% suffer chronic malnutrition and a quarter of children die before their fifth birthday. A country torn apart by decades of civil war the situation in Angola has always been very changeable. Eventually lasting peace seems to have come to Angola but enormous infrastructural and human devastation was left behind.
Joint Aid Management aim to feed as many children as possible through school and social welfare programmes and therapeutic feeding centres. This is encouraging the Angolan government to look at long-term development and reduce the number of children dying of malnutrition and to provide a more stable environment.
With government support Joint Aid Management now feeds over 130,000 children every day through schools and social welfare programmes.
