Our Water Projects in 2022
Where we are, what’s happening on the ground & where we are going in 2022
The challenges we are facing
Typically, in this semi-arid area, with families living off small holdings of only 1-4 acres, there are serious issues of deforestation, soil erosion, dangerous and unpredictable flooding in the valley below.Â
Until recently, there has been little investment in water collection and storage, in terracing land or in sustainable farming methods, thus keeping the community in the cycle of poverty. Â

What we have done so far
We’ve been setting up our model sustainable 26 acre farm. Â Â
Local women and young men have been training alongside us while working as casual labour to build swales, plant indigenous trees, build water pans and large masonry water storage tanks.
We now have 1 million litres of water storage for agricultural use.

What we are doing next
All our farm buildings have guttering and we aim to be have a self sustaining water supply for our farm needs.
We are aiming to help 10 families within our Global Angels Network Groups to get guttering on their houses so they can collect rain water. We are planning to build earthen brick water storage tanks for them.

Lasting change in the face of environmental challenges
Our project is unique in the Itinyi Valley because of our focus on sustainability and creating a micro economy that can feed the families that live in the area, whatever the weather, by optimising water consumption, growing produce organically and using cutting edge technology to farm fish.
Water for 10 families
We have a plan for 2022 to put guttering on family homes in the Valley and building ten 20,000 litre storage tanks from earthen bricks. With our new curved brick making machine as soon as we have funding from donations we can start building.Â
Tens of thousands of people live in this area. We may not be able to help all of them at once, but we can do something. Let’s change the lives of ten of those families now!
