It only costs £40 to feed a child in the school feeding program, every school day for the school year. The nutritious meal provides 60% of their daily food requirement in this project.
For four years, Global Angels funded a school feeding programme for nearly 600 children in this project run by the Dominican Sisters. The project called Natwangie Youth Village is a community school for orphans and vulnerable children. Global Angels also funded the completion of unfinished classrooms, school equipment, including new facilities for a science department, bunkbeds, mattresses and blankets.
Between 20-40 orphaned children were in the Sisters direct care and they had placed large numbers of orphaned children in local families as foster families, while continuing to provide the children with food, clothing and education. We were thrilled to find Sister Gudentia so passionate about helping orphans in an area with a high level of HIV. She has since retired and our project was completed.
