It only costs £40 to feed a child in the school feeding program, every school day for the school year. The nutritious meal provides 60% of their daily food requirement in this project.
Global Angels have been providing food for nearly 600 children at the Natwangie Youth Village. This is a community school for orphans and vulnerable children who have not been in a regular school due to lack of support. Our school feeding program enables these children to take part in education and learning whilst being properly fed in school.
Around 20-40 children are cared for in the home and provided with food, clothing and education. Large numbers of orphaned children are also placed into foster families. The project helps orphans in an area with a level of HIV, hoping to give them a chance in life through education. We have also been very pleased with the way they used the funds directly as designated and especially at the numbers of children they have been able to feed with such small amounts of funding.
Global Angels have also enabled the school to complete unfinished classrooms and provided school equipment including the facilities for a science department to enable the kids to have science lessons within their school learning! The children are also taught about music, sport and vocational skills like carpentry and construction, providing them with the skills to go out and earn a living. We have also provided facilities such as bunkbeds, mattresses and blankets to the youth village.
