Education helps break the intergenerational cycle of poverty allowing a community to thrive.
Our new mill grinds the millet, sorghum and legumes grown locally. Our shade nets and forest gardens grow fresh vegetables, bananas, papayas and passion fruit to feed the children in the local schools. Global Angels Farm and Mill products are also sold in local markets providing fresh produce to our neighbours and further afield.
New beehives on the hillside, provide honey to sweeten the school children’s porridge and soon we will have goats for milk. Developing a new circular economy is building community sustainability and resilience in the Itinyi Valley.
Local farmers are enrolling in our Academy for Community Sustainability. We are training them to develop thriving ecosystems that can overcome the effects of climate change and poverty in the Itinyi valley. Our students, both women and young people are growing organic produce, which we purchase for our school feeding programme.
Bondeni School Feeding Programme
Bondeni is a very small local village and the school only has a maximum of 30 children. When we launched the programme in February 2019, nearly half of the 5-6year olds in the school were malnourished to the extent they had stunted growth and clear signs of malnutrition. Already, we have seen the children’s nutrition levels and health improve.
We are providing these little ones with our own Global Angels nutritious and delicious porridge mix with fresh fruit for breakfast. Lunch is a mix of beans and peas, vegetables and fruit grown on the Global Angels Farm. Each child receives a nutritious meal providing 60% of their daily food requirement every school day.
Our Tsavo Project team are working with the teachers, parents and health authorities, measuring the impact on the children’s health and growth over the next few years. With the school being very small, it’s particularly useful for us to develop and showcase our sustainable model. Our longer term aim is to inspire families, farmers and communities in the area to adopt the model in their village schools.
Sasyeni School Emergency School Feeding Programme

Communities in the Tsavo region find life particularly hard due to experiencing little rainfall, droughts and crop failure. While we are working in the region to develop long term sustainable solutions, it is sometimes necessary to run an emergency school feeding programme as a short term solution, which we did for the Sasenyi Primary School during a long drought period.
From 2014 – 2016 Global Angels provided funding for school meals at the Sasyeni Primary School, Tsavo. There are 740 children between 5-18 years of age who benefited from the meals, to help families get through the effects of drought. We have successfully completed our funding commitment for the emergency school feeding programme in Sasyeni Primary School, Tsavo, Kenya. We have now redirected our focus into a more sustainable long term nutritional programme. We are heavily investing in long term sustainable food security through developing agriculture and water supplies in the region.
