Amanda Ellis is New Zealand Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva and Special Envoy of the Prime Minister.

Ambassador Ellis is on secondment from her role as Deputy Chief Executive of the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Head of the NZ Aid Programme, where she managed the team investing over half a billion dollars a year in international development assistance. From 2003-2010 Ambassador Ellis held a number of roles at the World Bank Group, including Lead Specialist in the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Group, Senior Private Sector Development Specialist and founder of the IFC Women in business programme. She managed the WB President’s Global Private Sector Leaders CEO Forum. Author of five titles in the WB Directions in Development series and two best-selling Random House business books, Ambassador Ellis is the recipient of the 2011 TIAW Lifetime Achievement Award for promoting women’s economic empowerment. She serves on the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on New Growth Models, is a board member of NZ Global Women and past chair of the Global Banking Alliance.
