With all the ups and downs of life, we often need an extra dose of encouragement. In that vein, I would like to share some personal news before I share about our progress in Kenya.
In New Zealand and Just Married!
It’s seven years since Colin and I first met and fell in love. How amazing to find such a precious relationship at this stage of life and to be able to encourage others that it is possible to find someone special. I am delighted to announce that we celebrated our wedding in London, on October 9th, surrounded by friends and family.
The Miracle of Seeing My Dad Before He Passed Away
Just before our wedding, while on my last trip to Kenya, I discovered my 89-year-old father had terminal cancer. His last wishes, shared with me, were for me to get married and to bring Colin to New Zealand, so that they could meet.Â
I leave New Zealand on Friday, fly to LA to be with my daughters and grandson for four nights. Arriving in London next week, I have a few days catch up with Colin and then fly to Kenya with Tracy Williams to support our team managing The Tsavo Project. Once back home, Colin and I will escape the UK winter and go on our honeymoon to somewhere very warm đŸ™‚

New Tsavo Project Manager
Our decision to find and train local leadership to pioneer our work in the Itinyi Valley is proving successful. Working closely with Jackson Mwanza as his mentor, I find myself genuinely encouraged by his personal leadership development over the last three years. Â I am also inspired by the tenacity and enthusiasm I see in our staff and their families, even when facing the most difficult of times.
Locally born, qualified in the construction industry as an educator and having managed his own business, we hired Jackson to manage our building work. His ability to absorb knowledge and gain new skills in organic farming, together, with his deep understanding of people and the culture of the local community is an added bonus. We have recently promoted him to onsite Tsavo Project Manager and he is building a new team from within the local community.Â
